FORT SUMTER IN PERIL. GENERAL BEAUREGARD GIVES NOTICE. THE FORT TO BE ATTACKED.
Washington, April 6 – Advices just received from Charleston state that General Beauregard has officially notified Major Anderson that he must evacuate fort Sumter within forty-eight hours, or else that the batteries of Charleston harbor will shell him out.
The southern commissioners here are evidently alarmed at the threatening aspect of affairs. They take particular pains to give out that the Confederate troops will not precipitate events at Pensacola by attacking Fort Pickens, but they say nothing about Fort Sumter.

All it will take to win this war is to capture Fort Sumpter. That’ll show those damn Yankees we mean business. Yeah!
