Monday 18th January 1864
I sewed some on my dress today. I made the sleeves, trimmed them with some dark goods & put buttons on the point at the back of the arm. I finished the waist & sleeves today. I put a dark coloured belt, like the sleeves. The mail brought no letter for this office tonight. I received a letter from Mr. Henry this evening. He was in Parrottsville, Ten. yesterday morning. I am so glad he is not a prisoner & I hope he may never be one.
Tuesday 19th [January 1864]
I finished my dress this evening & put it on. It fits beautifully. I trimmed the bias seams at the sides with buttons. Matt made nearly all the skirt last night. This has been a very cold day, high winds from the North. We eat dinner by a candle as the wind blew in the dining room so. Old Presley is making shoes here, will get done this evening.
