Wednesday 20th [January 1864]
More pleasant today than yesterday. No wind & warm & bright all day. Sister Jane sent Paddy horse. She has had him near a week to mill on. I made some bolster cases longer this morning. Made myself an apron & sewed some on one for Willie. No news from Mr. Henry. I would like so much to hear from him. I can only pray for his safety & leave him in the hands of my Heavenly Father. He doeth all things well.

Matt & I went to Asheville today. I spent the day very pleasantly at Sister Jane’s. I called at Mrs. Jessie Smith’s & Mollie went with me down to Sister Jane’s. Mrs. Smith sent the horse down. I left Matt this evening unintentionally. She was very angry when she came home. Tom Tidwell came here this morning. He wants to see Mr. Henry. I wrote to Harrie tonight, also to Dora & Pinck. I am very tired.
