Sunday 7th [February 1864]
Cold & N. wind this morning. The snow nearly all gone, melting now 11 o’clock. The sun comes out occasionally but plenty of snow on the mountains. I would be so glad to hear from Mr. Henry. Oh! that this cruel war was over. I do hope & pray for peace most fervently. Surely the Lord will not turn a deaf ear to all the prayers of the South. I have written to Sister Lena & Sister Ell. Preaching at the Academy today. There has been quite a revival at Sardis. The meeting lasted till Friday night, had several to profess & a good many mourners. I hope they may hold out faithful for there is many out of the church yet.
