Sunday 14th Feby 1864
I rolled the cloth off the beam & cut some off for Pinck a pair pants off the first end. It is very nice jeans. I did not fix it back on the beam. Mr. Henry started to Pa’s this morning, rode John. Cloudy & looks like rain. I fear he will get wet but hope he may have good weather. He will go to “Col. before he returns. He only has 10 days to go & come. I do hope he may get a government contract. I tried to play on the piano at Sister Jane’s yesterday. I have forgotten all about it. I am so sorry. I once played very well but ‘tis all gone now. I scarcely know the notes. I am going to give Mollie another trial for her piano. I will give 1200$ for it if she will sell it. I am sorry I have forgotten. This cruel war, when will it end? Oh! that the Lord would grant us peace. Have mercy on us Oh! Lord. Stay Thy hand upon us as a nation & grant us peace I pray.
