Friday April 1st
Cool this morning. I don’t feel any better. I have been taking teas all day & applying cold cloths & camphor. It helped me a little while & then ‘twas as bad as ever. I finished the pants this evening. Mr. Henry went to Asheville today & consulted Dr. Hilliard. He gave him some tincture of iron to give me. I take some tonight. I hope it will help me. I would hate to leave my little children now for some one else to rear. I hope I may be spared to raise them. God grant my husband & myself long life to raise our children. Give us wisdom to raise them as seemeth good in Thy sight I pray.
