Wednesday 22nd [June 1864]
I sewed on the crib quilts today. Dr. Logan was here. This is his 4th visit to Atheline. I don’t think he does her any good whatever. She is very feeble. I fear she has consumption. Mr. Henry at home all day. Wiley Knight is up fixing up the buggy. One of Mrs. Quinn’s children died last night of diarrhea. I hear of a good many having it. Gus has been unwell all week with it. He is very fretful. I think he is teething. I let him suck today for the last time I think. He has not sucked since last Thursday & then only on the right breast as the other is dried up. He did not get anything when he sucked of consequence but he begged so for it. Mr. Henry said let him have it. He has been no trouble to wean. He is a good child when well.
