Guttapercha rings, North Carolina Museum of History, Accession number 1948.26.1-2

Guttapercha rings. These rings are possibly mourning rings since gutta-percha is often associated with mourning.  Several of today’s posts deal with death, or memory of loved ones who have recently died.  These rings were made by a Confederate prisoner of war.
